Ruthless People
Ruthless People (1986)

IMDB rating: 6.70

Plot: Sam Stone is a clothing manufacturer, who married his wife Barbara, for the money that she was suppose to inherit from her dying father, but her father didn’t die for another fifteen years. He is now planning to kill her and is on his way home to do just that but when he gets there, she’s not there. He then receives a call from someone claiming to have kidnapped Barbara and threatening to kill her if he informs the police, which he does hoping that they do. What Stone doesn’t know is that the kidnappers, Ken and Sandy are a couple whose idea for a garment he stole and made fortune off, are not that lethal, as a matter of fact Barbara’s more lethal. And what Stone doesn’t know is that his girlfriend, Carol, has another boyfriend and they plan to blackmail Sam, by videotaping him disposing of Barbara’s body. When her boyfriend, Earl goes there to do that, the person who goes there was not Sam but a guy with a hooker, and the guy instructs the hooker to scream her head off, Earl mistakenly believes that Barbara’s not dead and that Sam was killing her there, and was so freaked out that he didn’t bother to see if it was Sam. And Carol tries to put her plan in operation by sending Sam a copy of the tape, Sam thinks that it’s for something kinky that Carol wants and when Sam tells her that he is going to do what was done on the tape to her, she assumes that he is going to kill her. So she sends another copy of the tape to the Chief of Police, and tells him that she wants him to arrest Sam for murdering Barbara, and the Chief is happy to oblige cause he is the guy who is on the tape. The Chief manages to find the instruments that Sam was going to use to kill Barbara and arrests him. Sam now has to get Barbara, alive, so that he can prove that he didn’t kill her. And Barbara starts to bond with Sandy.

Crush issues, please help me?
Please help.. I’m in love? lust? whatever?

See, I’ve been friends with this guy, let’s call him Andy, for a few years. He’s a pretty cool guy- extremely geeky (which I love) fairly handsome, pretty snarky, very intelligent. Andy’s strategic, logical, can sometimes be kind of ruthless, occasionally perverted but only to make a joke, which are usually funny. I like him a lot, and we’ve been friends for a long time. My friends say we’re a perfect match. He’s a very strange person, but so am I.

Here’s the sitch.
In 6th grade, I think, I confessed that I liked him (throughout the years it’s been a combination of friends and crush) and he decided that he wanted to be friends but didn’t want to be in a relationship because he thought it would ruin our friendship. (we were absolutely inexperienced then, never been kissed, never dated, anyone else either) I can see this logic. I like being Andy’s friend, and I want to keep being his friend. But I want more too.

We have sort of a flirting history- I think we were doing a lesson on public speaking and I decided to write him a "love letter’ (I didn’t like him then) and read it aloud to the class- he thought it was funny, and it was cute, because he was blushing. (note: we;’re two of the strangest people ever) Anyway, that’s when I started liking him again. I sort of started to notice how he looked a lot more, and although everybody else thinks he looks disgusting, I like him, and I like his personality.
He says he has a girlfriend in Minnesota. It’s obviously a lie- my friends all know he’s pretending, and we joke about his "imaginary girlfriend" a lot. Andy doesn’t really mind, but I know she doesn’t exist because he claims she’s the same person and has changed the color of her hair/eyes and her name a few times, but claims he hasn’t.
I don’t know how to get him to know that I am an option. I think I’d be the best one for him in particular out of everyone I know. I really, really like him. And I don’t know how to let him know.
And once I do, there’s a few ways it could go.
A: He likes me back.
B: I awkward him out and he freaks (not likely given his nature, but still a possibility)
C: Any other possibilities???????? please just tell me what I should do!!!!!
D: He doesn’t like me and just wants to be friends, but I get all awkwarded out and start hating him (long story, but if this happens I prolly will hate him for a few weeks)

if you hate him now just forget him and look forward but if you really love him go for it with courage

R.s help please…I need to describe three things:?
The three universal truths
The four noble truths
The noble eightfold path

I don’t know about the first one, but I studied the other two in World History last year..

The Four Noble Truths
1. All of Life is suffering
2. Suffering is caused by desire.
3. You can end suffering by ending desire.
4 You can end desire by following the eightfold path

The Eightfold Path

1. Right View:
Right view is the beginning and the end of the path, it simply means to see and to understand things as they really are and to realise the Four Noble Truth. As such, right view is the cognitive aspect of wisdom. It means to see things through, to grasp the impermanent and imperfect nature of worldly objects and ideas, and to understand the law of karma and karmic conditioning. Right view is not necessarily an intellectual capacity, just as wisdom is not just a matter of intelligence. Instead, right view is attained, sustained, and enhanced through all capacities of mind. It begins with the intuitive insight that all beings are subject to suffering and it ends with complete understanding of the true nature of all things. Since our view of the world forms our thoughts and our actions, right view yields right thoughts and right actions.

2. Right Intention:
While right view refers to the cognitive aspect of wisdom, right intention refers to the volitional aspect, i.e. the kind of mental energy that controls our actions. Right intention can be described best as commitment to ethical and mental self-improvement. Buddha distinguishes three types of right intentions: 1. the intention of renunciation, which means resistance to the pull of desire, 2. the intention of good will, meaning resistance to feelings of anger and aversion, and 3. the intention of harmlessness, meaning not to think or act cruelly, violently, or aggressively, and to develop compassion.

3. Right Speech:
Right speech is the first principle of ethical conduct in the eightfold path. Ethical conduct is viewed as a guideline to moral discipline, which supports the other principles of the path. This aspect is not self-sufficient, however, essential, because mental purification can only be achieved through the cultivation of ethical conduct. The importance of speech in the context of Buddhist ethics is obvious: words can break or save lives, make enemies or friends, start war or create peace. Buddha explained right speech as follows: 1. to abstain from false speech, especially not to tell deliberate lies and not to speak deceitfully, 2. to abstain from slanderous speech and not to use words maliciously against others, 3. to abstain from harsh words that offend or hurt others, and 4. to abstain from idle chatter that lacks purpose or depth. Positively phrased, this means to tell the truth, to speak friendly, warm, and gently and to talk only when necessary.

4. Right Action:
The second ethical principle, right action, involves the body as natural means of expression, as it refers to deeds that involve bodily actions. Unwholesome actions lead to unsound states of mind, while wholesome actions lead to sound states of mind. Again, the principle is explained in terms of abstinence: right action means 1. to abstain from harming sentient beings, especially to abstain from taking life (including suicide) and doing harm intentionally or delinquently, 2. to abstain from taking what is not given, which includes stealing, robbery, fraud, deceitfulness, and dishonesty, and 3. to abstain from sexual misconduct. Positively formulated, right action means to act kindly and compassionately, to be honest, to respect the belongings of others, and to keep sexual relationships harmless to others. Further details regarding the concrete meaning of right action can be found in the Precepts.

5. Right Livelihood:
Right livelihood means that one should earn one’s living in a righteous way and that wealth should be gained legally and peacefully. The Buddha mentions four specific activities that harm other beings and that one should avoid for this reason: 1. dealing in weapons, 2. dealing in living beings (including raising animals for slaughter as well as slave trade and prostitution), 3. working in meat production and butchery, and 4. selling intoxicants and poisons, such as alcohol and drugs. Furthermore any other occupation that would violate the principles of right speech and right action should be avoided.

6. Right Effort:
Right effort can be seen as a prerequisite for the other principles of the path. Without effort, which is in itself an act of will, nothing can be achieved, whereas misguided effort distracts the mind from its task, and confusion will be the consequence. Mental energy is the force behind right effort; it can occur in either wholesome or unwholesome states. The same type of energy that fuels desire, envy, aggression, and violence can on the other side fuel self-discipline, honesty, benevolence, and kindness. Right effort is detailed in four types of endeavours that rank in ascending order of perfection: 1. to prevent the ari

jailbreaking problems help me!?
ok well i jailbroke my ipod with black rain and it installed it i saw the app on there but then everything restarted and i had to install all my apps and music again now when i open blackrain it goes fying through recovery mode and it says done wait for reboot but the screen goes black and nothing happens help me i dont understand!

Is this a newer iPod, like around 1-2 months old? If it has 3.1.3 firmware installed, there is no untethered jailbreak for this at this time. Plug device into PC and reboot iPod after jailbreaking, should work. Google tethered and untethered jailbreak. 3.1.3 made it a pain but you can still jailbreak. If it has the newer ROM 05.12.01, no luck, this was Apples way to get around jailbreaking……..for now. Just wait, and soon there will be a way…

I haven't lost any inches from my exercises?
I have been doing consecutive jogging each day for a week and about the same for a while now with a few days off. I’m basically out a few times a week for a powerful jog. And sprint. I’m usually out for about an hour or more and there’s a mix of jogs, runs, sprints, stretches and walks. I swam a bit too. 40 laps actually, yesterday. I have stopped eating past 7pm for the last 3 days.
I only ever drink water and tea, though I enjoy light milk with raw oats and raisins in a bowl for breakfast usually and I’m generally a healthy eater aside from chocolate which I make sure to avoid unless it’s minimal. (I can devour a 250g block in a day or less…)
I just dont get why I havent lost at least one inch around my waist. I feel more toned. I can see the toned muscles under my small layer of flab. Are my muscles just swollen or something?
Im 18, 5′2 and about 127 pounds. Hoping to get down to 118ish, wanna drop from an Australian size 10 to 8. (Us sizes 6 to 4 I assume?

Guns of Navarone, The (1961)

IMDB rating: 7.50

Plot: 1943. With the battle of Stalingrad turning the war against them, the Germans are attempting to bully neutral Turkey into joining the Axis; to this end they have trapped 2,000 British soldiers on Kiros, an island in the Aegean, with only one sea route for evacuation, a sea route commanded by two gigantic German antiship batteries deployed in a massive cliffside bunker on the island of Navarone. Immune to air attack and too much for Allied battleships to suppress, the British muster Keith Mallory, a commando officer who has been working on occupied Crete for nearly two years and who is an expert mountaineer, to ferry a team of British commandos to the only area of Navarone that is not monitored by the Germans, a 400-foot cliff. Greek resistance is to meet the team inland and guide them around German patrols to the area of the German guns. However, the commanding officer of the British team suffers grave injury in the climb and Mallory must take control of the mission, despite clashes with explosives expert John Anthony Miller, who upon the arrival of the night of the raid finds his equipment has been sabotaged, thus exposing a traitor in the team’s ranks.

1)Puppet on a Chain. -my fav. ( The European spy thriller without computers or cell phones. Phone booths, sending coded messages, attention to detail and working by your wits are tools from the past. MacLean allows Major Paul Sherman to use these tools to combat the narcotics trade and it’s associated murders in the streets of Amsterdam.)
2)Goodbye California – (Nuclear weapons are placed along the San Andreas fault so that, upon detonation, most of California’s biggest cities will fall into the ocean. MacLean’s thrillers are older but still seem timely today.)

3)The Golden Gate.
4)Night Without End. – fantastic
5)The Lonely Sea.
6)Time of the Assassins.
7)River of Death.
8)River of Death.
9)Sea witch.

Choking Man
Choking Man (2006)

IMDB rating: 6.30

Plot: Choking Man is an intense blend of psychological drama and magical realism that encapsulates the contemporary immigrant experience in America. Jorge is a morbidly shy Ecuadorian dishwasher toiling away in a shabby Jamaica, Queens, New York diner run by Rick. He works all day long in the shadow of the ever-present Heimlich Maneuver instruction poster which hangs in the diner kitchen. From his solitary kitchen corner, Jorge gropes mutely for a bond with Amy, the newly hired Chinese waitress and even though she tries to reciprocate, the gulf that separates them may be too large. On the job he is continually tormented by his coworker Jerry and at home in his Harlem boarding, under the psychological control of his domineering ‘roomate,’ he battles his inner demons. Set in the vicinity of JFK airport, the most culturally diverse neighborhood in the world, Choking Man captures the feeling of claustrophobia and almost literal asphyxiation newcomers to America experience as they struggle to find a place and purpose in this strange land.

Will you read this poem please?
The Dream of the Mirrors

My looking glass held the King of Wands
Mercury’s child, the setting sun,
his countenance wise, his eyes were dun
His walking staff made of palm fronds.

He pointed to a distant mirror
and in it’s face I saw much clearer
the stomping charge of angry hooves
the weight of histories on the move.

I saw saw the chalice and a lonely stair
Solemn duty’s nervous pace
and like a haunt about the place
A woman of years was standing there

Her face was veiled but shining eyes
alone revealed her silent sighs
Reflecting glass in her cupped palms
a millions wails she gazed down on.

She looked at me and at the man
who paced the floor in worry’s grip
She let the solemn mirror slip
It vanished from her open hand.

His eyes were fire, his temper cold
her disregard made him feel old
the suffering world cried on apace
despite the loss of pity’s gaze

He closed the book, removed the cup
another object there he placed,
his hat was ****** down towards his face;
against the wind his collar went up.

Amidst the scene another reflector
shone alone this nervous observer
clutching his pillow in a bible choke
The glass fogged over, and I awoke.

Thank you so much, Love Child.
